The Challenege:

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) is a non-profit society incorporated on July 19, 1983 under the Societies Act (S-18331) and a charitable public foundation under the Federal Charities Act (Registration #11887 8677 RR0001) which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. EKFH provides funding to assist the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and other community health care facilities in meeting the service needs of the region. EKFH depends on the generosity of public donations, third party fundraisers and our own special event initiatives.

To recognize and thank donors the EKFH was using a wooded display board where donor names were showing on engraved metal plaques which had to be ordered and installed. It sometimes took weeks before a donor name was recognized for a generous donation. It also proved not to be a very cost effective way of displaying donor names and another challenge was space limitations.

The Solution:

The solution provided by Flook Digital Media was to install two 55” screens side by side to use one screen as a digital Donation Wall and the other screen to display media releases, latest news and Twitter feeds. Content for both screens can be created and updated through a password protected area of the ekfh.ca website. Content is displayed on the screens immediately after content is created or updates are made. This assures immediate donor recognition and instant communication of important news.

Installation:

The location chosen for the digital donation wall is a centrally located easily visible wall in the Cranbrook Regional Hospital adjacent to the existing wooden donation wall. The space for the two screens was used as a pin board to display paper print outs of news and upcoming events. The live screens receive feeds from the EKFH web site using the solid state sign controllers, when the website is updated with a news release or a new donors name, the screens update at the same time.

Advantages:

Flook Digital Media uses a secure network to allow the data to go from the website to the sign controller which is connected through the Interior Health Network. Flook Digital Media Systems are designed for easy use, flexibility and scalability in mind. Updates are easily made by EKFH staff through a password protected area of the EKFH.ca web site. Presentations and content display can be numerous and scheduled in advance through our calendar based scheduling software. For example one or both screens could change for a set period of time to promote an upcoming event or fundraiser, then revert back to previous content. The donation wall can easily be expanded by adding and synchronizing additional screens.

“EKFH is very pleased with our new digital donor & media wall created in partnership with Flook Digital Media. The addition of this new technology in the main lobby of the regional hospital brings great benefits to the work of our foundation. We are able to provide instant information on upcoming events, recognize the generosity of our donors and highlight the success of our fundraising campaigns.”
